Strong Auditions Lately

I had a dynamite audition for the 16mm film project! The director created many successful films, some of which won international awards!

This audition went so good because of the tactics I've been learning in my Method Acting and Improv classes. Specifically, the use of putting myself in the moment while utilizing sense memory to bring out emotional dynamics to my performance.

Sense memory is a strategy where you specifically recall one of the five senses, touch, taste, smell, sound, sight. For example, thinking of how pine trees smell might spawn the emotion of happiness because it might remind you of Christmas time and the fun of being with family.

I feel myself getting stronger and stronger each week! Literally and figuratively. I owe much to my great acting coaches, Chad Willet and Jeff Gage. These two gents are truly some damn good actors!

Still Hopes

Talking with the agency this morning regarding some of my recent auditions.

The clients have not circled back with them yet, so there is still a real chance of landing some big projects.

Fun how the industry works.

Conflicts of Clients

Television and auditions can be bittersweet at times.

Due to commercials currently on air I have to pass on other opportunities due to conflict of interest. I can't be in spots for similar companies which I understand. Still stinks on my end though.

Bittersweet...

WELCOME BACK (working title)

Been working hard on the presentation, portfolio, and sales pitch for one of my projects called WELCOME BACK. A good buddy and I entered this script in a contest many years ago. We didn't win, but as we gain more experience, have found many breaks in our approach.

This is whats cooking in the Elles kitchen:

- 15 page script, sweet and too the point. Dialogue is one are which needs much focus. I'm trying to make the characters voices individualistic and unique.

- Story board, about 15 pages. Giving the potential buyers a visual of what we want the story to look like - needs to be real high level, yet crisp and straight to the point.

- Presentation, focusing on the target audience, types of media this could work in, an a strong synopsis and query. This is the sales and marketing piece that is taking the longest to iron out.

- The next five episodes, these are more cliff notes of what we have to offer if the series is picked up. Not a full script but just bulleted items of what we have in store, still needs to be crisp and clutter free.

After all this it will be time to hit the market - much work to do until then, much to do... I think we are onto something good though... Stay Tuned.

Web Series

One of the coaches I'm currently taking acting classes with passed along a recent opportunity to partake in a new online web series.

There are several parts I know I can perform strongly, I'll dig further into this and let you know. Right now simply ready to audition!

Pre-Movie Spot

Recieved a nice call from the Agency today for an audition for a commercial that customers see before movies. It would be a pretty funny spot if I get it. The point is I'm with my wife/girlfriend and I leave to get snacks just to trip, break my arm, and lose all the popcorn.

It will be a fun audition none the less.

16mm

Have a great audition for an international award-winning experimental filmmaker. The role is a smaller role where they want me to play an older father like figure. This audition isn't slated until early March, still would be a sweet gig to land.

Shooting the picture on Super 16mm film really takes the project to a new life. Definetaly a good spot to put on a resume reel. Check out what I mean by clicking here...
I'll let everyone know how it goes when the time gets closer.

Funny Bone

I'm excited to start some exciting workshops later this afternoon. The respected comedian and actor Jeff Gage is conducting multiple sessions at the Funny Bone Comedy Club where he will help sharpen stand up and improv skills from the group.

With strong ties to the Second City, Jeff is a great guy to know. I'm super excited about this, mmm mmm mmm. I'm looking to really take things to the next level and with networking and coaching from such positive people in the industry, I'm really feeling some positive momentum which I hope to harbor for years to come.
