Audition on Monday's

Had a nice unexpected call from the agency today...

I went in and read for a spot that is shooting later this week. It was a real quick request by the client and I'm glad I was able to book out the time to audition.

This was a camera read off a memorized script. With two different takes, I think I was able to show different interpretations which demonstrates an experienced actor.

There are several important parts of an audition that easily, unintentionally, and frequently get jacked up. It is most important to remember the basics and apply what you practice. A couple quick examples of what I'm talking about are the following:

the SLATE - This is THE FIRST impression a client will see of you as you reference your full name and agent. Gotta make it "Pop" and grab, on this audition, I think I could of "Popped" a little stronger...gotta make quick, sweet love to the camera; I only showed up with flowers today.

the READ - Delivering each line with a specific, overall, deeper meaning than what surface interpretations. This is where a multitude of individual understandings are expressed.

the REQUEST- Its SUPER important to listen to the Directors while keeping a "glass half full" mindset through out the audition. Today I did. If they ask for something a different way, you cannot take negatively. Usually, its to see if you pass the test of listening on set as well as effectively being able to deliver a specific role. Its also important to be as diversified as an actor as possible... if a director needs more "sad," cry them the flippin' Mississippi.
