After traveling all around southern Ohio today I came prepared for my audition in Columbus, strong of spirit, fit in mind.
While memorizing the script all day yesterday and reciting the lines while dodging combines on country roads today, I felt I brought a solid performance for the clients consideration.
The audition was held at the Agency today where the feeling is always predictable and controllable. What I mean by that is:
- Acoustics of the room are familiar, I know how to accent different pitches and tones of my voice when appropriate, no need to guess where the echo's are
- Lighting remains the same so I know how I'm are going to appear, no need to look for shadows to avoid or extra bright spots which cause squinting
- The associates at the agency are always encouraging and supportive, again no need to try to "read" a directors, photographers, and/or clients command. I simply get in the moment, look in the camera, and do my thing.
When auditioning at different studios or production companies there are a lot of unpredictable factors to pay attention to. Even though my nerves seem to heighten when reciting prepared piece, its a great feeling to audition in a place I know.
