This evening I had my first of eight monologue workshops.
The class was great! Today was on the easy side, simply to let everyone begin to trust one another as well as cold read our pieces.
A big take away from tonight, and something to always remember, is to take the time and set up the scene. What happens before you start talking is just as important as the words you speak. This is referred to as sub-text. What is the meaning between the lines, this is what will truly make a piece extra-ordinary.
Next week we will focus on the tactics to obtain the objective. Objective meaning what the character (you) want in that specific scene.
With a great instructor and a fun interactive class - I'm looking forward to taking much away from this experience.
