CHICAGO
Wowie! What an exciting whirl wind of activity and pressure the past few days!
I'm glad to sharpen up the site a little bit and explain what was going down the past few days.
To keep it simple and easy to understand, I'll relay what happened in bullet points.
Additional stories, links, pictures, as well as an "insiders guide" to my all activities and research will shortly follow.
Until then, this is what was going down...
WHERE: Chicago, IL
WHAT: After passing initial screening and interview (approx. 20 out of 400) in Columbus, OH I chose to pursue the opportunity to meet, perform, and network with the some of the entertainment industries top agents, managers, casting directors, and "players."
WHY: Face time is priceless. Simply think of it this way, if a reporter is never on TV and other entertainment managers never see the reporter on TV, the reporter has a hard time advancing (FORWARD PROGRESS).
I'm always selling my self. Not literally, nor unethically. I have to always be my number one fan, the best agent of myself for myself, and market the hell out of myself to any and everyone. I've learned an important lesson many years ago, its not what you know its who you know, to an extent.
MY PURPOSE: To successfully navigate through a lengthy audition process to perform a preselected piece for many TV/ film agencies.
I not only fulfilled my purpose, but I hit a grand slam with my performance.
Ya right you might say, to you, I say Na!
Let me explain.
THE AUDITION PROCESS: The most important part of anything! Making the correct impression and following directions was of the utmost importance.
I made it for callbacks and was then able to perform for many powerful agents.
NOW WHAT: Its all up to me now and its time to do what I'm good at, marketing. Time to create the Brian campaign and execute by following up with these and other agents, utilize the buzz that is fresh right now, utilize social media outlets, promote past work, and simply full throttle.
My ultimate goal was to meet new agents, which I did.
My secondary goal was to deliver my monologue to the best of my ability, which I did.
My third goal was to sign with specific agents, which were not present at the event. Somewhat out of my control but I'll pursue the hard way - mail, phone calls, and email.
I was also offered an opportunity to travel to L.A. and train under one of the industries most respected coaches, Chambers Stevens. If I pursue this opportunity, it will be to build my commercial work, make major contacts in the film industry, and be in the loop on possible opportunities always available in Hollywood. There is much to think about and I am still chasing my goal of being signed by a major agency.
This is a long post but I hope this fills in the gap of what was happening.
There are many additional stories and pictures I can't wait to share with you... until then, thank you for spending your ever so important time reading my site.
Support from family and friends are what I am ever so blessed for! Thanks for everything, everyone, continues to do for me.
Oceans of Love,
Brian
